UPCOMING CLASSES
I teach drawing as a way to find and connect with our true creative selves. We practice positive mindset and always look for the good. What we learn in drawing we bring to the whole of our lives and into the world.
I teach online and in the Boston area. See options below and check the websites for up to date information.

BOOKFUL (ONLINE)
My live online class, BOOKFUL, is a collaboration with my dear friend, artist and master bookbinder, Bari Zaki of the bookbinding and paper goods shop, Bari Zaki Studio, in Chicago. In this 4-week class, Bari teaches us how to make a handmade book in the first week. In the next three weeks, I lead us through visual storytelling exercises. We offer 3 sessions per year and each has a different theme. While art remains our focus, we have now introduced words and storytelling. We began this series in 2020 and it has grown into a beautiful community of creators. Bari provides a kit with the materials including beautiful cover papers, all included in the price. I create a slide show with inspirational art from other artists to begin our work together. All levels of experience are welcome.
Concord Art
I began teaching drawing at Concord Art in 2020 and it soon became a wonderful new teaching home for me. Concord Art is located in historic Concord, MA, a short drive from Boston. It has excellent art exhibitions with opportunities for artists of all kinds to show their work and a yearly exhibition for students. My goal is to help participants find bold ways to inquire into drawing and to explore with confidence. In 2025, I am introducing visual storytelling, a way to write and draw in tandem and tell the stories we want to share. I offer classes at Concord Art in the fall, winter and spring. The winter class is online.
The Mosesian Center
The Mosesian Center is centrally located in Watertown, MA, minutes from Harvard Square and the center of Boston. It was my first teaching home and where I had my studio for 15 years before moving it back home. I'm delighted to continue my association with the Center through my classes there. My book, The Confident Creative, is based on my first couple of years of teaching at the Center. Little did I know that when I accepted the invitation to teach there that I would discover a passion for sharing art making with others. I now teach intensive one-day workshops at the Center in fall, winter and spring. Course offerings include drawing and painted paper collage.
Carla Sonheim Presents
In 2010, my book about drawing, The Confident Creative, was published by Findhorn Press. One day, around this time, I opened my spam email folder to find a note from Carla who had also published a book about drawing and created an online teaching platform with her filmmaker/photographer husband, Steve Sonheim. They invited me to teach a class with them and flew to Boston to film it. I was thrilled as we shared a passion for the way art making can open creative forces in us all. Our first series of classes was called Making Art a Practice. A year or two later, I flew to Seattle where they lived and we filmed the sequel, Making art a Practice/ In and Out of the Sketchbook. These courses are available now for self study. I had a wonderful time filming them under Carla's and Steve's able guidance and I hope you enjoy!
