Hey, K and C! Always fun to be there! And there are probably some good shows on. This was a totally spontaneous trip so we didn't plan to see anything in particular. Then what we saw inspired us to just walk the streets instead of gallery prowl! Next time we'll be more organized...maybe!

Cat, nice pic. I'm glad you shared you adventure to NYC. At times, we talk about going to the city to catch some shows, I guess we don't need to go right now. Perhaps another time.

Oh, my goodness I miss NYC streets so much. Constant art in motion. I've been dying to get there to visit High Line - maybe next year. Glad you got to go. Love!

Yeah! It's a great exercise!! I do it with Matisse and Hockney drawings too with my students. A great way to train the eye and hand. It's always fun when we all turn them right-side up at the same time. There are usually plenty of distortions but those can give us some good ideas for pushing our drawings too! Have fun with it!

I did the same exercise using the same source material 24 years ago in high school art class under Maxine Warren, a fantastic teacher. I found your page whilst Googling for the Stravinsky drawing so I could do the same lesson with my kids. Small world!

Hi Christine, Thanks so much for writing! Love your work and all the great creative explorations you're making! Seeing Robert Irwin in person was one of those unforgettable life experiences. The Harvard professor kept trying to intellectualize what he's done and he just asked him to be quiet and let him talk. He was totally unpretentious- the kind of guy you'd love to have a beer with and you'd end up talking about life rather than art. Haven't quite finished the book but so loving Irwin's devotion. And what an amazing piece of writing, so present, engaging and conversational, by Lawrence Wechsler. Will report back when done! I too must go to the Dia:Beacon. Soon!

OH Cat, I read L. Wechsler's book this summer whilst on vacay. I love that you are also now reading it. Lucky you to have heard Robert Irwin speak at Harvard. Wondering what your feelings are after reading. Best, Christine from Cleveland. I must go to Dia:Beacon.
