Creativity Forum

by Cat B on July 31, 2010

heartA couple of weeks ago, through the magic of Twitter, I met business creativity consultant, James Allen, who has an interesting company called Brewhouse Group in London. On his blog, he’s created a forum on the subject of creativity and invited artists and writers to contribute. He’s also posted some great links to other sites exploring the nature of creativity. Check it out!

One post I particularly enjoyed was by writer, Mike Watson, on rebellion and art. Mike asked what creative impulse artists from different periods in history share.  He then points out that Michelangelo and Marcel Duchamp shared the same purpose—to upend the limiting conventions of their times.Michelangelo rebelled against organized religion and Duchamp against the bourgeoisie. Truly at the heart of art, isn’t it? Society knocks so much out of us and art sets us free again.

Thanks for the inspiration, James! And Mike!

Thanks for the nice comments Cat. I hope people will use my blog as a forum – the more we discuss creativity the more we will understand it. It certainly seems like more and more people are realising its importance.

So great what you’re doing, James! And so cool we get to exchange insights all over the world with everyone chiming in.
