Welcome to My New Site!

Posted on | February 28, 2009 |

YOU12Of course, I thought I’d have the new site completely finished by the time I invited you over here but it’s still a work in progress!  But now you’ll find examples of my art and writing on my blog site, just go to the menu bar above.  Before too long, with a little luck, I’ll import the content from my old site, Artwala Road.

I’m very grateful again for the help my friend, Kelly Ferry, supplied.  Not only is she witty, insightful and fun, she actually knows a good deal about web design. Thank you, Kelly.  Her own blog, about cooking, gardening and writing is well worth reading.

Not to pat myself on the back but to offer encouragement to those readers who may be contemplating such a site themselves, I was able to do quite a lot of the design myself.  This is a Wordpress blog site basically.  Wordpress is free blog software which has become very sophisticated and easy to use; much improved from when I first began 2 1/2 years ago.  There are hundreds of themes (templates) to choose from and, once you’ve found something you can work with, it’s quite simple to make a few modifications.

I’d designed another site using another form of user-freindly software but it wasn’t going to incorporate the blog feature.  I feel that’s important to keep the site, a record of my work, alive and part of the present moment.  I hope to share my journey as an artist and writer, to share the actual work and the ways it goes into the world.  Thank you, Wordpress!  Who knew you could design a site like this for free?

There are still a few things that aren’t finished here, the banner for one.  But I hope it’ll be fun for you to witness the changes and see the new work as it’s incorporated into the site.  Thanks for coming over and I hope you’ll bookmark the site and be part of the ongoing dialogue about what it means to be an artist in a world that is truly on the cusp of change.  Onwards!

Lovin’ the new site! It showcases your work very nicely. And I’m so happy for the opportunity to read some of your (wonderful!) writing! The writing and artwork feel very cohesive to me–they create the same bright, curious world. I’m dying to read more of Tulip’s diary!
